Lucky me. February 25 is declared a national holiday so I get to watch the Academy Awards live. As in the past years, I take the day off and see to it that I catch the Oscars. Why? Simply because I love watching the actors dress up, get grilled about what and who they're wearing and I guess it's simply enchanting to see the ladies all in glittery, elegant gowns sashaying down the red carpet.
The film industry in America is such an honorable industry, dedicated to redefining their craft year after year and making films that tackle plots of substance. At the Oscars, every bit player is recognized, from the screenwriter where the story begins, the editor, sound engineer, cinematographer, director and the cast.
Hosting the 80th Academy Awards is Jon Stewart. I expected it to be Ellen Degeneres, she did such a wonderful hosting job last year, playing with Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese on the side.
Anyway, with the writer's strike over, there will be lots of catching up to do with pending movies and television series. In the meantime, I'll be actorspotting at the Oscars where fame, talent and glamour converge!
So whenever I watch American Idol, I tend to focus on every aspect of the contestants' performances. My mentor in Hyatt taught me how best to project to the audience, exude confidence in what you are singing, and as Simon Cowell always puts it, choose the right songs.
Although a concealer was not part of the make-up line, we saw dusting powders in tulle, beige and pink shades, a mud bronzer and a blood lip tint. You can buy a starter kit that comes with a kabuki brush for about PhP1500. Says the sales expert, the make-up finish is shimmery but natural.
The movie Blood Diamond is a story about conflict diamonds set in Sierra Leone. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a white African mercenary turned smuggler in search of a pink diamond, Djimon Hounsou plays a fisherman who found the pink diamond and will use it to retrieve his family and son who became a child soldier, and Jennifer Connelly plays an idealistic American journalist. All three major characters portray pivotal roles in search of truth and freedom.
This is how my usual noon habit looks like. I am just so glad that Bun on the Run is back after years and years of disappearance! The branches I know are in TriNoma, Metrowalk, BF Homes Parañaque, and Ayala across PBCom.
Jon Stewart was witty. I liked his introductory monologue very much.
