Iron Man, Oh Iron Man...

My sister and I trooped to GB3 yesterday and came rushing to buy the tickets. Last week, she turned to me very eager to watch this movie. All it took to make me go with her? Yes, Robert Downey, Jr.. I never knew Iron Man until yesterday.

Tony Stark, sole heir of Stark Industries, maximizes his technology prowess and assembles an armored suit after an incident that nearly killed him.

There could be no other actor who can better play the role of Iron Man than Downey. His acting is effective to the extreme as he portrayed a rugged genius who develops a superhuman ability to fly and fight his opponents.

The movie is a current blockbuster at the tills, so I won't give away the synopsis further lest I feed you with the spoilers. Let me just say I enjoyed the movie very much and the comeback of both Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow (who plays Pepper Potts) on screen is such a refreshing welcome to the moviegoers.

Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man also stars Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane, Terence Howard as James Rhodes, Shaun Toub as Yinsen, and Faran Tahir as Raza.

This movie really gives a big bang for your buck!

Mineral Make-Up

March 7, 2008

Henri Calayag, a veteran in the field of beauty, recently opened his salon at The Residences in Greenbelt across Renaissance Hotel. He is also the first local manufacturer of the latest make-up today that he named Mineral Wonders.

My officemate and I strolled around Greenbelt 5 yesterday and went to Myth to check out the make-up products.

Although a concealer was not part of the make-up line, we saw dusting powders in tulle, beige and pink shades, a mud bronzer and a blood lip tint. You can buy a starter kit that comes with a kabuki brush for about PhP1500. Says the sales expert, the make-up finish is shimmery but natural.

Mineral Wonders by Henri Calayag are available at Henri Calayag Salon Greenbelt (Tel. Nos. 7295888/09209181880) and Myth Greenbelt 5 (Tel. Nos. 7570162/09159137057)

Cuentos de Familia

Last weekend I found time to see Pirates of the Carribean with my two sisters. This flick oozed with visual effects! I was glued to my seat and never realized we got out of the cinema at around 10:30pm (because the movie lasted for almost three hours). This also served as my momentary getaway from being mom, although I'm not used to going home late anymore. Orlando Bloom was gorgeous as usual. And as for Jack Sparrow.....I am now officially a Johnny Depp fan!

When a really good movie is showing, Greenbelt 3 is always the place to be. Never compromising comfort and service, we couldn't care less about spending for the tills. Anyway, we pick the superb films and we see a movie once every two to three months, so that's good enough I guess. Before heading to the cinema, we had dinner at National Sports Grill, oh how I missed their chops, pasta and fries. Anytime at NSG is the best time especially with equally pretty sisters! Next movie we will see: Ocean's Thirteen! Well, this is the only time we will see two movies in consecutive weeks.

A few more days to go and it's my little boy's birthday. I am quite agog lately (yay! so not idle) with putting together everything we need for his party, the loot bags, the food, and of course, his guests. The theme for his birthday this year is everything Disney! So think Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Winnie the Pooh, Sesame Street and Elmo's World! Time flies real fast, that McDonald's party he had last year seemed like just a few months ago.

Oh well.

Channeling motherhood..... :-)
